Daniël de Blocq van Scheltinga

Daniël de Blocq van Scheltinga is the Founder and Managing Partner at Polarwide. He has 24 years of experience in corporate finance, restructuring, and corporate banking, both in Europe and in Asia. He began his career as a lawyer before moving into finance where he held various positions in Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Kredietbank and ABN AMRO. Daniël was the Head of Chemical Sector Advisory in Asia Pacific from 2001 to 2006 and Head of Asset Based Finance in Asia between 2006 and 2008 at ABN AMRO.

In 2008, Daniël founded Polarwide and is currently responsible for client coverage and overall management of the business. He is also the first CBRC-approved foreign national to be appointed a senior manager in a state owned enterprise in China. In 2008, he became the founding CEO of ChemChina Finance Co. Ltd through an agreement between ChemChina and Polarwide, with responsibility for leading ChemChina to centralise capital management of more than 460 subsidiaries, as well as the global acquisition strategy for the group.

Daniël has a Master of Law degree from Leiden University, the Netherlands (Dutch Law and International Law).
